Welcome! I’m Maggie. I’m a 30-something wife to Mason, Mom to Charlotte (human baby) and Penny (K9 baby). I’m a proud graduate of the University of Virginia and The College of William and Mary. Mason and I were born and raised in Charlottesville, VA and we love it! I am the oldest of three girls and most will tell you I exhibit classic first child tendencies (read: I like things a certain way. OK, I like things my way).
In October, 2019 I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. I’ve never blogged before in my life (I never thought I had interesting things to say!) but writing about my diagnosis has been very therapeutic and has helped me sort out some emotions I have around this disease. Cancer has brought endless tears and worries, but it’s also infused some hilarity into our lives as we try and work through the randomness of this diagnosis. I hope that comes across in my writing as well. Putting my story out there leaves me feeling a bit vulnerable, but if I have learned anything from this diagnosis, it’s that life can leave you feeling vulnerable as well and you might as well share your experience. If you take anything away from my story, I hope it is a lesson in advocating for yourself, finding laughter in dark places, and taking life one step at a time.
P.S. The story is more interesting in order, so start from the beginning!
